For those of us who live in Congressional District 14, I don’t have to tell you about the logistical challenges that exist from spanning seven counties and about 100 miles.
Technology has helped bring us together in the sense that now we know we are not alone and we have a common goal. However, thinking about the multitude of meetings and actions that have risen up over the past six months, people may find it difficult to attend some of the meetings or events, understandably, especially fitting them in with other daily responsibilities.
Indivisible 14 is committed to creating a spark to the Indivisible movement by designating the week of May 13-20 as an action week.
That is the beauty of grassroots movements; they start where you are and develop from there. “The more you move, the stronger you’ll grow (Ha Jin).
“But, what exactly does that look like?” You might ask
There are many ways to do it, and the more we move, the stronger we will grow — together. You could
- Host a meeting with a local group
- Plan an action
- Connect with others
- Write letters to your member of congress or to a local news outlet
- Form a watchdog group
- Attend a local meeting
The sky is the limit. These small movements together can make vast changes. “I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples” (Mother Teresa)

I went to the “meeting” Saturday in McHenry at the site of the April meeting, and no one was there. When is the next meeting and where?? Chuck Burton
Hi Chuck,
The meeting was actually moved to the Mchenry Library. We should be back to the normal spot in June but in case anything changes keep an eye on the Facebook page. Sorry about the confusion.
